The other week we got a title for the new Terminator movie, Terminator: Genisys. We’ll have more on that in a bit.
Now we’ve get scheduled release dates for two, count ‘em two, sequels! Terminator II: Still Terminating on May 19, 2017 and Terminator III: Terminating All Up In Your Business on June 29, 2018. Actually, they’re just titled Terminator 2 and 3 at the moment.
It appears that the ‘–sys’ in the title refers to the computer term system or the critical files that a computer depends on to work. It’s been confirmed that the title is relevant to the film according to the film’s Wikipedia page.
We’re not quite sure yet if this is a complete reboot or a sequel for one of the previous films. This time Emilia Clarke (Game Of Thrones) plays Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) as John Connor, Jai Courtney (Jack Reacher & Die Hard 5) as Kyle Reese, and Lee Byung-hun (G.I. Joe & I Saw The Devil) as the T-1000. Recently, Matt Smith of Doctor Who fame signed on for a supposedly large role as well.
Paramount certainly seems confident in Schwarzenegger’s return to the franchise, if you don’t count digital Arnie from ‘Terminator: Salvation’. We’ll see how long Schwarzenegger can go here, he is 67 at this point. The plan is to have Arnie’s Terminator in an ‘aged skin’. Perhaps to make him more trustworthy? I'm sure we'll all know sure enough.
Terminator: Genisys is set for a July 1, 2015 release.
