TFR Ep. 381: I, Tonya, The Big Sick, Who Dat?
Chris Scalzo
This week on The First Run, Matt & Chris discuss ‘I, Tonya’, starring Margo Robbie as the titular I. The story of Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan captured the zeitgeist in the mid 90’s (before you know who…cough Norbert cough…). Can the film still grab our attention today? Can Ms. Robbie get past the string of subpar films she’s been involved in and snag an Oscar nomination? How many questions can we pose about the film? Turns out it’s three. Next up is ‘The Big Sick’, based on the love story of comedian Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon. Two young kids that start to fall in love, then things go horribly wrong and one of them gets really ill. The film has been called a heart-warming, tear-jerking comedy. And it has Ray Romano…”Debra!”. Chris may repeatedly yell ‘Brenda’ throughout out the episode as he’s never seen ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’. He’s a jerk like that. You get your Blu-Ray & DVD Picks, featuring the Straight to DVD and Streaming Picks of the Week. Then the show wraps with the return of everybody’s favorite role playing game, Who Dat? BRENDA!
