TFR Ep. 467: It: Chapter 2, The Nightingale, Shoot The Piano Player, 5 Favorite Horror Film Posters
Chris Scalzo
This week on The First Run, Chris and Matt confront their entirely rational fear of clowns with ‘It: Chapter 2’. Pennywise and the Losers return for a final confrontation. Can the film deliver the relatively good scares of the first film and improve of Stephen King’s generally maligned ending? Chris then shares his thoughts on the new film from ‘The Babadook’, writer and director Jennifer Kent with ‘The Nightingale’. Kent’s second film expands into a new environment and tackles larger themes. Does it avoid the sophomore slump? Our French New Wave Marathon continues with the penultimate film in the series, ‘Shoot The Piano Player’. Will the down on his luck musician be able to live a happy, satisfied life after experiencing tragedy? Will he be dragged into a life of crime by his ne’er-do-well family? And have fun? There’s the semi-regularly entertaining review of the big releases on Blu-Ray & DVD, featuring the Straight to DVD and Streaming Picks of the Week. The show closes with Matt and Chris discussing their Favorite Horror Film Posters. A segment perfect for an auditory medium.
