TFR Ep. 512: Greyhound, Solaris, 5 Best Sci-Fi Films (1990-1999)
Chris Scalzo
This week on The First Run, Chris and Matt discuss the Tom Hanks vehicle, ‘Greyhound’. Hanks plays a destroyer captain navigating potential Nazi submarine infested waters as he and his crew attempt to escort supply ships to the Allies during World War II. Then the international science fiction marathon continues with our second Tarkovsky film, ‘Solaris’. A widowed psychologist ventures to a space station orbiting an ocean world to strange goings on and deteriorating mental health of the skeleton crew. But what he finds there may change him, and possibly us (?), forever! There’s the regularly entertaining review of the big releases on physical media, featuring the Straight to DVD and Streaming Picks of the Week! The show then wraps with Matt and Chris sharing their favorite science fiction films released between 1990-1999.
