TFR Ep. 596: Studio 666, Dog, Old Henry, TFR Top 50: 50-41
Chris Scalzo
This week on The First Run, the countdown to episode 600 begins! Chris and Matt discuss the horror-comedy ‘Studio 666’, featuring, and inspired by, the Foo Fighters. Yep. Is it this generation’s ‘Spinal Tap’/Exorcist’ mash up somebody was looking for? A complete disaster? A cult classic in the making? So much much. Chris shares his thoughts on Channing Tatum’s ‘Dog’. Is it a heartwarming family drama or is there something else going on? Then we shift to a genre Matt actually likes, the western. Tim Blake Nelson stars in ‘Old Henry’, about a farmer with a secret past where truths are revealed as he and his family are beset by roaming marauders. There’s the thrilling rundown of the big releases on Physical Media, featuring the Streaming and Straight to DVD Picks of the Week. Then Matt and Chris close out the show by revealing the first part of our Top 50 Countdown of their favorite films.
