TFR Ep. 343: Logan, Ran, Call It!
Chris Scalzo
On this week’s episode of The First Run, Matt & Chris discuss the final(?) Wolverine film to star Hugh Jackman, ‘Logan’. This time we’re set in the future and there are only a few mutants left on the planet. Along comes a mysterious girl in need of help, and a resistant Logan is forced to become a hero once again. Is ‘Logan’ a fitting send off? Is it enough to make us forget the underwhelming ‘The Wolverine’ and the atrocious ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’? Then our Kurosawa marathon continues with ‘Ran’. Considered his final, truly great film, ‘Ran’ is Kurosawa’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’. After the Great Lord starts to potentially lose his control of his faculties, he transfers his kingdom to his eldest son. And then stuff gets cray!
