Feel like dropping us a note and telling us how great we're doing?  Or maybe that we have no idea what the heck we're doing and should shut down the whole thing?   Perhaps just a suggestion or two?

Well, drop us a line and let us know!  Don't be shy.  We can take it.  Especially if it's praise.  We eat that stuff up!

TFR Ep. 52: The Roommate, Enter The Void, What Are The Odds?

Chris Scalzo

We're back this week with the psycho college roommate thriller, the... umm... 'Roommate'.  I'm not so sure having Leighton Meester obsessed with me is such a bad concept.  After that, it's the newest film by Irreversible director Gaspar Noe, 'Enter The Void'.  It's a drug fueled trip through the life of a wayward kid in Japan.  Artistic and experimental?  Sure.  Overly dramatic and self indulgent?  Perhaps...  We'll let you know about the big releases on blu-ray and dvd.  And wrap up the whole sordid affair with the return of the segment, What Are The Odds.  So lock your dorm room and light up the bong.  We're The First Run.

TFR Ep. 49: The Green Hornet, Centurion, TFR Libs

Chris Scalzo

Hornet's bite, right?  They don't sting.  Yeah, that's it.  We'll let you know if the long in development 'Green Hornet' floats like a butterfly, or bites like a bee? (wait, that's not right)  After that it's the latest (and greatest?) film by auteur Neil Marshall, 'Centurion'.  Is it a rebound after the somewhat disappointing 'Doomsday'? We'll give you the low down on the big releases on blu-ray and dvd this upcoming week.  And it's the return of TFR Libs, only slightly dirty this time.  Now I just have to figure out whether Espo or Howell is my Kato...

TFR Ep. 48: Season Of The Witch, I Love You Philip Morris, Exit Through The Gift Shop, Inventory Our Favorite Films Of 2010: 5-1

Chris Scalzo

This week, that's right, it the final countdown!  Our favorite movies of 2010, five - one!  Hear what the guys at The First Run picked as our favorite films of the year.  If you think there were fireworks and surprises last week in our ten - six, well you better sit down and get comfortable for this one.

The guys will also be discussing a couple of movies currently available in theaters and/or Netflix queues everywhere.  We switched things up a bit this week.  Matt and Chris have their review of I Love You Phillip Morris, the latest film from Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor where they explore love and relationship ups and downs, with each other.  Next, Chris and Espo review the latest Nicolas Cage juggernaut, currently earning the praise of an awe inspiring 5% of critics, Season of the Witch.

Then, the guys regroup to discuss Exit Through the Gift Shop, a momentum gaining documentary about street artists and their art, with the intent and benefit of being both informative, and provocative, and poses the question of where the art and the documentary intersect. All this plus the blu-ray and dvd releases for the week.  It's The First Run.

TFR Ep. 40: Morning Glory, Monsters, Who Dat?

Chris Scalzo

Scalzo is still trying to figure out which film is scarier. Morning Glory or Monsters?  Which film had more heart?  The answer may surprise you.  This week is a 'biggin'. Espo makes some bold statements about Rachel McAdams.  And Scalzo goes on a rant about Morning Glory, and why you deserve better.  ...that (d)evolves into a discussion about art, and Scalzo is prodded to defend Antichrist yet again. After that we discuss the micro budgeted indie horror film darling, Monsters.  Can a film exceed its budget limitations, or is it hampered by them?  We'll fill you in on the big releases for the upcoming Tuesday on blu-ray and dvd.
